The iconic orange design, form factor and security it offers make the Rugged one of our most popular hard drives. The Rugged Mini is a small-format rugged with tons of new features – a solid investment for transporting data.

Maximum reliability
The LaCie Rugged Mini Hard Disk shares many features with our popular Rugged Hard Disk, such as shock resistance and drop resistance. Both hard drives also have rubber protection. However, the Rugged Mini offers another advantage: it is also rain and pressure resistant. Even if you drive over it with a 1 ton car, it still works! The small size of the Rugged makes it ideal for traveling, and its robust housing protects it from shocks, pressure or impacts.

The speed of USB 3.0
With the Rugged Mini you have the speed of USB 3.0 and full backwards compatibility with USB 2.0, meaning you can use it with almost any computer. With USB 3.0, you can transfer a 700MB video file in less than 7 seconds. For comparison: With USB 2.0 this takes 25 seconds. To increase the data transfer speed on your Mac, you can use the LaCie USB 3.0 Driver for Mac® (up to 30% more performance compared to FireWire 800).
